Fight Colorectal Cancer (CRC), a leading non-profit organization in the U.S., faced challenges maintaining clean and accurate donor data across their CRM systems. With 14 data sources, 20,000 duplicates, and numerous errors, the organization struggled to manage donor profiles, track donations, and communicate effectively. To address this, Fight CRC partnered with Innovative Systems and leveraged the Enlighten® platform to successfully migrate and enhance their CRM data quality.
Challenges
Decades of unclean data from various internal and external sources created fragmented and inconsistent records, impacting Fight CRC’s donor relationships. Transitioning from Keela to a new CRM, Bloomerang, required extensive data cleaning and consolidation. Data inaccuracies, including mismatched or erroneous entries from sources like Mailchimp, hindered operations and donor engagement.
Solution
Fight CRC deployed Innovative’s Enlighten platform, typically used in banking, to clean, validate, and migrate their data. Key processes included:
Address validation: Cross-referencing data with USPS for accuracy.
Deduplication and enrichment: Consolidating and refining records to prevent duplicates and ensure completeness.
Data mapping and documentation: Ensuring smooth migration to Bloomerang with comprehensive testing and support.
By stepping outside their industry norms, Fight CRC gained advanced data management capabilities, supported by thorough training and expertise from Innovative Systems.
Results & Impact
In just two months, Fight CRC transformed its CRM data management, achieving:
198,000 records cleansed: Exceeding the initial estimate of 115,000.
20,000 duplicates resolved: Creating a clean and actionable donor dataset.
Robust data foundation: Tools and processes to maintain clean data and improve email validation moving forward.
Anjee Davis, President of Fight CRC, highlighted the project’s success: “Innovative Systems gave us confidence in our data and set a strong foundation for future practices. Their commitment and ingenuity were key to our success.”
